Beyond the Lab is a webinar series for students in years 8 to 12 around Australia in which IMNIS Catalysts will share their non-traditional STEM Career Journeys.

Join IMNIS Catalysts Dr Amal Dameer and Tian Nie as they discuss their career journeys and their life Beyond the Lab

Amal is an experienced medical doctor completing a PhD at RMIT University, Australia. Her Ph.D. research is aiming to improve heart management and outcomes in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. She holds the position of Respiratory Council Co-Chair and conference organiser in the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) and has been annually organising the Sleep Down Under Conference with the ASA’s conference organising committee.

Tian is a third-year PhD student at the University of Melbourne, where she uses mouse models to study the long-term effects of hormone therapies on bone among transgender people. She is interested in exploring the impacts of basic science research on society, from science communication to policy making and believes that science should serve both people and the pursuit of knowledge.
