STELR visit to Quebec

STELR visit to Quebec

Yesterday, Peter Pentland, the Academy’s Executive Manager, Schools Programs, visited Laurentian Regional High School, our only STELR school in Canada. The school has 550 students from around the region, with some travelling by bus for an hour and a half. In the French speaking province of Quebec, students can only attend an English language school if one parent also went to an English speaking school.

Peter said that school is extremely grateful to receive the equipment and resources which were provided with generous support from our principal sponsor, Orica. They fit really well with the Quebec renewable energy and climate change components of the curriculum. They are already using the STELR Renewable Energy resources with some classes, and plan to use them more widely next year.

Peter provided providing professional learning for the school staff. Pictured above from the left is: science teacher, Simon Hopkins;  school Principal, Christian St Pierre; Peter Pentland ans laboratory technician, Bruno Manini.
