STELR Sustainable Housing lamp spacer

STELR Sustainable Housing lamp spacer

Clement Lu, a STEAM educator at Casey Tech School near Melbourne has designed a spacer bracket that he uses to hold the STELR lamp in place, effectively keeping the ‘sun’ locked in place at the same angle during Sustainable Housing investigations.

The 3D printable brackets hold the lamp at a fixed angle. They are little spacer blocks that slide up in between the metal stand and the plastic fin/housing of the lamp and stay in place through an interference fit.

Clement says that only one spacer block is required for each lamp although two can be used (one on each side) for added robustness.

He has tested printing the brackets in both PLA and ABS and found that the PLA brackets deformed after about 10 minutes of use. The ABS brackets hold their shape even after 45 minutes of lamp operation.

Clement has kindly shared the STL files with us and has files with the bracket printed singly or on batches of 10, 20 and 30.

If you are interested in 3D printing these brackets, please contact us and we can send you the specifications and the .stl files.
