Water for today and the future

Water for today and the future

The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) has released a new short film, Towards a water wise world. In the film SIWI explains how the growing water crisis will change the way we live and do business. The film aims to increase awareness of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, most of which are strongly linked to water.

The film focuses on some of the same issues that are covered in the STELR video Global Warming – Cold Facts, Hot Science

  • Climate change will cause more frequent extreme weather events like floods and droughts.
  • Rainfall is becoming more and more unpredictable, increasing the risks of crop failure and hunger.
  • In a warmer world more people will suffer from infectious waterborne diseases.

The film would be especially of interest to those using STELR’s Water in the 21st Century resource, and also of general interest to anyone teaching in the area of sustainability.

SIWI works with governments, organizations and businesses to develop smarter policies and better practices.
